I don’t know what’s funnier about this year’s NHL All Star Draft. The fact that Alexander Ovechkin pretty much boycotted it, or Scott Hartnell getting a perm before the draft?
Ovechkin, the All Star break is for the fans, but you did the right thing. You were suspended for playing the game too physical, and you stuck it right back at Brendan Shanahan, I respect that.
As for you Scott Hartnell, good job not being picked last, but come on, cut that hair. Who gets perms anymore?
Well here you have Team Chara and Team Alfredsson’s choices.
Team Zdeno Chara, Assistant Joffrey Lupul
Goalies:
Tim Thomas
Carey Price
Jimmy Howard
Defense:
Zdeno Chara
Kimmo Timonen
Ryan Suter
Brian Campbell
Dion Phaneuf
Dennis Wideman
Offense:
Pavel Datsyuk (1st overall pick)
Joffrey Lupul
Evgeni Malkin
Marian Hossa
Corey Perry
Phil Kessel
Patrick Kane
Jerome Iginla
Marian Gaborik
Jordan Eberle
Tyler Seguin
Jamie Benn
Team Daniel Alfredsson, Assistant Henrik Lundqvist
Goalies:
Henrik Lundqvist
Jonathan Quick
Brian Elliott
Defense:
Erik Karlsson
Kris Letang (straightened his hair for this draft)
Shea Weber
Dan Girardi
Keith Yandle
Alexander Edler
Offense:
Daniel Alfredsson
Jason Spezza
Steven Stamkos
Daniel Sedin
Henrik Sedin
Milan Michalek
James Neal
Jonathan Tavares
Scott Hartnell (got a perm before the draft)
Jason Pominville
Logan Couture (38th, last pick overall)
So there you have the teams, hope you enjoy the Skills Competition and the All Star game. I still don’t know how a guy like Hartnell gets into this game over a player like Ilya Kovalchuk, but I’m sure they will add a “Falling down Competition”.
