Nashville Predators vs. Chicago Blackhawks
Everybody and their mothers are on Chicago making it to the Stanley Cup Finals. We all know they’re a great team, but the Hawks did not impress me down the stretch of the season. Towards the end of March, they took a beating in Florida 7-0 then blew a 4-1 lead in Tampa losing 5-4 in OT. Chicago did follow those two losses up with wins over Columbus and Pittsburgh. But then fell back into the hole losing their final 4 games of the season. Two were against playoff contenders, Boston and Anaheim.
Nashville also has not impressed me lately, going 5-5 in their final 10 games and 3-3 versus playoff contenders through their last 10 games. This series is a coin flip, in my opinion, so give me Nashville as the underdog in 7 games.
Minnesota Wild vs. St Louis Blues
The obvious is St Louis, but I cannot deny the fact that Minnesota finished 4-1 in their final 5 games of the regular season. But, I also cannot deny the fact they went 1-4 in their last 5 March games. In their last 10 games versus playoff contenders, the Wild went 1-2. And the Blues went 1-1 versus playoff contenders while going 7-3 in their final 10 games.
I believe Minnesota got their groove back and home ice advantage will be the difference maker. I’ve been riding Minnesota all season, they did hit a bump in the road, who doesn’t? Expect them to knock the Blues out in 7 games.
Anaheim Ducks vs. Calgary Flames
Edmonton Oilers vs. San Jose Sharks
San Jose finished 4-6 in their final 10 games, one of them being a 4-2 loss at the hands of the Oilers, at the tank. Edmonton finished 8-2 in their final 10 games while scoring a mob of goals. I can’t see San Jose slowing down the Oilers through the neutral zone. Just isn’t going to happen. Give me the Oilers in the sweep.
