Nashville Predators Preview
The last time these two teams faced off was back on December 21st, where the Predators defeated the Canadiens 5-1, thanks to goals from Weber, Wilson, Josi, Jarnkrok, and Galchenyuk. While goalie Pekka Rinne made 35 saves against the Canadiens in December, rookie goalie Mike Condon is looking to step up his own record for the Canadiens, making 35 saves of his own against the Flyers.
He will likely start on Monday, as the Canadiens look to even the score with the Predators.
Unfortunately, the Predators (27-21-11) confidence seems to be lacking as of late, which might seem like great news for Montreal, but is a bit unnerving for some of the players, who are working to just “figure it out,” according to defenseman Shea Weber.
Where the Predators are really struggling lately is in their overtime game, where they’ve lost 10 of 11 bouts this season. With players coming and going on and off the injury list, including forward Gabriel Bourque, Nashville is likely to try coming in strong on Monday, and not allowing the Canadiens to take control at the risk of an overtime match.
Montreal Canadiens Preview
The Canadiens (28-27-4), come into Monday’s game looking to extend their at home winning streak, with rookie Condon in the net after his impressive performance against a shootout with the Flyers.
While the Canadiens haven’t had the best luck on the road lately, they’re confident in their ability to push forward, and are working on inching their way toward the playoffs. A win against the Predators to even the score and get their fifth win at home would be a great confidence boost to the team, and their diehard fans.
- Nashville Predators -> Pekka Rinne
Pekka Rinne gave up two goals on 30 shots in the Predators’ 2-1 overtime loss to the Kings on Saturday night. Rinne has not been good this year, but that has not been the case over his past two games, a span in which he’s given up two goals on 59 shots. Rinne has a 2.50 goals against average and .905 save percentage
- Montreal Canadiens -> Mike Condon
Mike Condon stopped 35 of 37 shots in Friday’s 3-2 shootout win over the Philadelphia Flyers. Condon gave up an ugly goal to Nick Cousins in the first period, but he was able to shut the door late in the third period, in overtime and on four of Philadelphia’s five shootout attempts. The 25-year-old has a 14-17-4 record with a 2.58 goals-against-average and a .902 save percentage this season.
