Boston Bruins (3) vs. Philadelphia Flyers (2)
As most of you know, I already expressed how I feel about the Bruins under my last quarter finals article. And although they won the series BARELY, I was right about everything I said about them Bruins.
No heart, Chara is not a true captain; Lucic would choke, and so on. But they did win the series, BARELY, so they deserve some credit.
SIKE! They don’t deserve anything!
In a rematch to last year’s Eastern Conference Semi Finals, this is going to be the most exciting series to watch. Not only because there is bad blood, but also because most Bruin fans will finally see how bad the team actually is.
The same could be said about the Flyers, how they barely beat the Sabres. But, in game 7 they dominated the Sabres 5-2. They out played the Sabres and were all over them, it was like watching the Flyers vs. A high school team.
As where the Bruins BARELY won their game 7 against the Canadiens.
Many TV “experts” are predicting the Bruins to knock off the Flyers because they are going to be playing with a chip on their shoulders. Well, all those TV “experts” also expected the Sabres to knock off the Flyers….the Sabres….
With Chris Pronger back in the lineup, a player like Mike Richards is finally playing to his potential. With that said, this team is unstoppable. The only concern I have is the goaltending, when is that never a concern for the Flyers?
After rotating all three goalies in the quarter finals, they have decided to stick with veteran Brian Boucher, with Sergei Bobrovsky backing up. Worst case scenario is, if Boucher chokes, they Flyers will have Bobrovsky there to save the day. Bobrovsky has proven himself in the regular season by showing he can handle pressure, but never really had a chance to prove himself in the playoffs, yet.
If the Flyers can keep physical with the Bruins, and causing a lot of traffic in front of Tim Thomas, they will easily win this series. But they will also need Brian Boucher to be at his all-time best. Remember, Carey Price is the one who kept the Canadiens alive against the Bruins last round.
Prediction: Philadelphia Flyers to win the series in 5 games.
