Tuesday March 10th and here at Pucking Hockey we have a NHL Hockey Pick and Prediction between the Boston Bruins and Ottawa Senators.
Boston On The Rise
Boston held onto the final playoff spot since the All-Star break and if it were not for them imploding those few weeks, teams like Florida, Ottawa and the Philly would have never had a chance at beating them out of the final playoff spot.
Since the implosion, the Bruins have shaped up and are back on track. Tonight will be the deciding factor if Ottawa or Florida will still have a fighting chance at clipping the Bruins for that final spot.
If Boston Wins, they practically wrap up the final spot, if they lose, Ottawa and Florida still have a shot. It’s that simple.
Tuukka Rask will start in-goal after being given Sunday off. He’s 1-0-2 versus the Senators this season, dropping to 6-2-2 with a 2.17 goals-against average lifetime against them.
- Bruins are 2-5 straight up in their last 7 games on the road
Ottawa Making a Late Push
Andrew Hammond or Craig Anderson? That’s the question surrounding this Ottawa team. And most likely will be the controversy all summer if Ottawa doesn’t make the playoffs. Me personally, I would keep riding Andrew Hammond, why fix something that isn’t broken?
I’m a fan of Craig Anderson, but general managers need to set the overall team as their number one priority, not individual players and all emotions need to be set aside. This is a must win game for Ottawa tonight, they can’t afford to allow emotions get in the way.
As I just got done writing that, looks like Craig Anderson will get his 2nd consecutive start since returning from injury. He played pretty decent against the Flames on Sunday, facing 46 shots and only allowing 4 goals.
Anderson is 9-3-3 with a 2.36 GAA and .926 SV% at the Canadian Tire Centre this season. Like I said, he is one of my favorite goaltenders and I trust him completely, but I also wouldn’t stop playing the hot hand….and say Ottawa loses tonight and Anderson is the cause, well, you will know tomorrow’s headlines.
- Senators are 2-11 straight up in their last 13 games when playing at home against Boston
