Carolina Hurricanes vs Detroit Red Wings Preview
This is the second of three meetings between the Carolina Hurricanes and Detroit Red Wings. In their first match-up the Red Wings won 3-2 in overtime but that felt like a life time ago if you’re a Red Wings fan.
Detroit enters this game tonight having not won since November 2nd, going 0-2-5 since then. At the Joe Louis Arena? Win-less in eight games (0-2-6). Good news though, they are gaining points but this will bite them in the back towards the end of the season if they don’t start winning games.
Not only have the Wings not won at home since October 15th they also had a setback on the back-end. Defenseman Danny DeKeyser suffered a shoulder injury and was placed on IR. Meaning he will miss a minimum 24 days, or 10 games.
Shifting to the other end of the ice Carolina enters this game suffering a 4-1 loss against Boston on Monday. They did have goalie Cam Ward in that game, he suffered a groin injury back on October 24th.
The Hurricanes have lost four straight road games and rank 29th in the League in goals scored, at 1.9 per game.

Eric Staal brings in a three-game point scoring streak for the Hurricanes.
Johan Franzen has three goals and five points in his past four games for the Red Wings.
The Hurricanes have three players on injured reserve: defenseman Joni Pitkanen (heel), forward Jeff Skinner (upper body) and goalie Anton Khodobin (lower body). Alexander Semin is also out with a concussion and wing Kevin Westgarth (upper body) and defenseman Ron Hainsey (flu) are both questionable.
Daniel Alfredsson (groin) missed the game Tuesday for the Red Wings. Stephen Weiss is on IR with a groin injury. DeKeyser is on long-term IR
Carolina Hurricanes – Cam Ward (confirmed)
Detroit Red Wings – Jimmy Howard (confirmed)
Carolina Hurricanes vs Detroit Red Wings Prediction
This is a small NHL pick and it will NOT be documented on our overall NHL record. I would recommend that you do not bet this game – there’s better value elsewhere tonight – but if you need action here is my prediction.
You would have to imagine that Detroit breaks out of their win-less slump at home at some point, right? Why not against a banged up Hurricanes squad who is also having struggles of their own?
The odds are way too high for my liking especially for a team that has been struggling at home. But expect the Wings to get their first win at home for the month of November, tonight.
Detroit Red Wings -160
