Saturday 26th Confirmed NHL Hockey Starting Goaltenders
Chad Johnson stopped 26 of 28 shots in Saturday’s 3-2 shootout loss to the Blackhawks. Johnson still hasn’t lost in regulation in three straight starts (2-0-1). He has a 9-9-2 record with a 2.31 goals-against-average and a .918 save percentage this season.
Columbus Blue Jackets at Tampa Bay Lightning
Joonas Korpisalo vs Ben Bishop
Goalie Joonas Korpisalo made 30 saves but he and the Columbus Blue Jackets lost big Monday night, 5-2 to the Penguins in Pittsburgh. Korpisalo’s record is 1-3-0. His goals-against average is 3.23 and his save percentage is .902. Korpisalo is not your solution if you are having difficulties with your fantasy goalie. He’s respectable, but he is playing for a subpar team that gets embarrassed on a lot of nights
Braden Holtby allowed three goals on 36 shots in Sunday’s 7-3 win over the New York Rangers. All three of New York’s goals came in the first period. Holtby was perfect the rest of the way. The 26-year-old has won five straight decisions and hasn’t lost in regulation since Nov. 10. He has a 21-4-1 record with a 1.96 goals-against-average and a .931 save percentage. There aren’t many goaltenders that have more fantasy value than Holtby this season
Cory Schneider stopped 25 of 28 shots in Tuesday’s 4-3 win over the Red Wings.
The Devils gave their goalie a 3-0 cushion in the first period and they were able to hold on for the win. Schneider has a 15-9-5 record with a 2.14 goals-against-average and a .925 save percentage this season.
Carolina goalie Cam Ward made 19 saves in a 2-1 loss to the visiting Washington Capitals Monday night. The loss put Ward at .500 for the season with an overall record of 10-10-3. His goals-against average is 2.56 and his save percentage, .900. Ward is a workhorse with a mediocre team. Leave him alone in fantasy
Jake Allen turned aside 32 shots in Tuesday’s 2-0 win over the Boston Bruins.
Allen gave up four goals on 31 shots in yesterday’s loss to Philadelphia. He’ll head into the Christmas break with a 16-8-2 record with a 2.06 goals-against-average and a .928 save percentage
Detroit Red Wings at Nashville Predators
Petr Mrazek vs Pekka Rinne
Nashville Predators goalie Pekka Rinne stopped 35 shots in a 5-1 rout of the visiting Montreal Canadiens Monday night. Rinne has been very good lately. He has allowed a mere two goals or fewer in each of his past four starts. He has improved his record to 14-9-6, his goals-against average to 2.34 and his save percentage to .911. Nashville (17-11-6) has won back-to-back games for the first time in over a month and is 11-4-3 at home
Jonathan Quick allowed four goals and made just 18 saves in a 5-3 loss to San Jose on Tuesday. Quick was twice spotted with a two goal lead but was a victim of strong power-play and big games from the Sharks’ best players in Joe Pavelski, Joe Thornton and Brent Burns. Despite the poor numbers, Quick is still having another fantastic season with 17 wins already to go with a 2.26 GAA and .917 save percentage in 27 games
Edmonton Oilers at Vancouver Canucks
Cam Talbot vs Jacob Markstrom
