After splitting starts for the first few months of the season, it appears as though Petr Mrazek has jumped ahead of Jimmy Howard on Detroit’s depth chart. Mrazek has appeared in each of Detroit’s last seven games, while Howard hasn’t won since Dec. 3 2015
Cory Schneider made 29 saves in the Devils’ 3-2 overtime win against the Stars on Saturday night. Two periods through the game, Schneider didn’t allow a goal. Then he allowed two in a matter of four minutes in the third period. He has been a bit up-and-down recently, though he’s now turned in two consecutive stellar performances. Schneider has a 2.10 GAA and .927 SV%
Hammond allowed two goals on 20 shots in the Senators loss to the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday. Craig Anderson got the nod last night, so Hammond will start the second game of the back-to-back set. He has not recorded a win since November 12th and comes into play at 2-3-2 with a 2.42 GAA and .923 SV% on the season.
Elliott made 35 saves on 37 shots in the Blues loss in Dallas on December 27th. Elliott has not had a ton of playing time, but he’s been solid when called up, especially at home—Elliott is 2-1-1 with a 2.06 GAA and .925 SV% at Scottrade Center this season.
Enroth allowed five goals on 34 shots in the Kings loss in Toronto on December 19th. Enroth has gone 2-2-1 with a 2.06 GAA and .933 SV% on the road this season.
Varlamov was pulled after allowing four goals on 19 shots in Colorado’s loss to the Flames on Saturday. Despite losing four consecutive games with a 4.37 GAA and .856 SV% and Calvin Pickard being perfect in relief on Saturday
Cam Talbot stopped 31 of 34 shots in Saturday’s 4-3 shootout win over the Arizona Coyotes. The 28-year-old put an end to his three-game winless streak. Talbot has a 6-11-2 record with a 2.91 goals-against-average and a .906 save percentage in 2015-16
Ward was 4-3-0 with a 2.49 GAA and .905 SV% in December and tonight will be his second start of the season vs. Edmonton—Ward stopped 30 of 31 shots in a 4-1 win in their first meeting.
Domingue has gone 2-1-2 with a 2.95 GAA and .919 SV% He has played well since being called up and tonight he faces a Canucks team that has won three of their last four.
Markstrom made 27 saves on 28 shots in the Canucks victory over the Ducks on Friday. He will start his fifth consecutive game and comes in having won four of his last five while posting a 1.93 GAA and .937 SV%
