Dallas Stars vs Washington Capitals Preview Pick
Dallas Stars vs Washington Capitals Preview Pick for November 19th 2015 (11/19/15) It’s funny how other NHL teams have dumped off the party boys in Dallas, it’s also funny how they didn’t let these young kids soak in the fame and money. Well now players like Seguin and Sharp have come to reality and playing out of their pucking minds.
The Dallas Stars are averaging 3.6 goals per game and are scoring on 29.3 percent of their power plays. Jamie Benn leads Dallas with 12 goals, Tyler Seguin has 17 assists and Patrick Sharp has 55 shots on goal. 55 shots on goal, which is no surprise, dating back to his time in Philly he was a very promising leader in the future, but the Flyers always dump off their great prospects. Being a Flyers fan, I cannot handle it anymore.
Sharp want’s to be a man-whore, so be it. I only care about his on ice performance and it is A1. Seguin is the team’s point leader with 27, which is also 2nd in the league.
Defensively, the Dallas Stars are allowing 2.5 goals per game and are killing 79.3 percent of their power play chances. Kari Lehtonen has allowed 20 goals on 252 shots faced and Antti Niemi has given up 28 goals on 315 shots. Lehtonen has given up six goals in his last three games. Niemi’s record is 7-3 on the year with a 2.63 GAA.
Here at Pucking Hockey we backed the Washington Capitals last night and although they won, they had no reason to. Detroit’s goaltender Mrazek is no fluke. He read the Caps power play like a 10 page book. The whole cycle at the top of the circles is overused and quite obvious will lead to a Ovechkin blast. Barry Trotz needs to lay off that set play and use it moderatly. The Caps have been exposed on that set play and it will not continue to work.
On offense the Caps are led by who else but Alex Ovechkin, who has eight goals on the year, while the team’s leader in points is Evgeny Kuznetskov with 17. This is a balanced & unselfish team on offense as nine players have at least three goals and five players are in double figures in points. As a team the Caps are 5th in the league in scoring (3.1 gpg), 5th in shots taken and 6th on the power play.
Defensively, the Washington Capitals are allowing 2.3 goals per game and are killing 84.8 percent of their power play chances. Braden Holtby has allowed 27 goals on 347 shots faced and Philipp Grubauer has given up eight goals on 79 shots. Holtby has allowed four goals in his last three games.
