December 4th 2015 Free Hockey Pick Bruins vs Flames 12/4/15 in Calgary from expert NHL handicapping service Pucking Hockey provided by myself Georgios.
Boston Bruins Preview
The Bruins have finally found their identity this season and it seems to be bailing out Tuukka Rask. Their offense is on fire and has not slowed down, yet. The Boston Bruins are averaging 3.2 goals per game and are scoring on 31.4 percent of their power plays. Brad Marchand leads Boston with 10 goals, David Krejci has 16 assists and Patrice Bergeron has 75 shots on goal.
Boston starts their games off slow and conservative then pick up throughout the game when needed. Especially when they are down, or when Rask let’s in another soft goal. Head coach Claude Jullian is not one of those coaches who sticks to one game plan through 60 minutes. He adjusts and he adjusts his team very well between periods.
Tuukka Rask is now 8-9 with a 2.87 GAA on the year and vs the Flames he has gone 3-2 with a 1.55 GAA in his career. His numbers against the Flames really do not matter in this game. Boston hardly plays Calgary and when they have in the past it was against a very vulnerable, soft Calgary team.
Calgary Flames Preview
After playing extremely well last season, the Flames have dropped off this year. They are a very young team and I suppose it’s due to the “Sophomore” slump. Historically it happens to young players along with young teams so I guess that’s the excuse for Calgary this season?
The Calgary Flames are averaging 2.4 goals per game and are scoring on 12.9 percent of their power plays. Sean Monahan leads Calgary with seven goals, Johnny Gaudreau has 16 assists and David Jones has 47 shots on goal. These numbers are not too bad which leads me to their goaltending issues.
Is it Hiller or is it Ramo? I think it’s neither. Calgary has yet to figure out who their number one goaltender is however Karri Ramo has been getting more starts over Hiller. Maybe he is their number one, for now?
Ramo has won three of his last five while posting a 2.33 GAA and .900 SV% – 3 of his last five are average but his goals against and save percentage are not pretty. In my opinion he is a backup and from what I have seen, when he only plays here and there he gets the job done. When he is playing consistently. he buckles, and clearly does not have the stamina as a leading goaltender.
Starting Goalies Tonight
Boston Bruins – Jonas Gustavsson
Calgary Flames – Karri Ramo
Ramo allowed three goals on 29 shots in the Flames’ shootout win against the Stars on Tuesday. It was a surprising win, which is why the Flames will go back to Ramo tonight vs. the Bruins. Ramo has won three of his last five while posting a 2.33 GAA and .900 SV%
