- Anaheim Ducks -> Frederik Anderson/John Gibson (likely)
Frederik Andersen allowed three goals on 34 shots and two more in the shootout as the Blue Jackets snagged the extra point from Anaheim on Thursday night. The 26-year-old falls to 11-8-6 on the season with a 2.30 goals against average and .920 save percentage. Andersen still hasn’t lost in regulation since Dec. 21
Gobson is 12-10 with a 2.13 goals against average on the year, including 4-4 with a 2.49 goals against average on the road, while vs Chicago he has gone 1-1 with a 1.48 goals against average.
- Chicago Blackhawks -> Scott Darling (likely)/Corey Crawford
Scott Darling stopped all 14 shots fired his way in two periods of relief work on Thursday night. Darling took over for Corey Crawford after the Hawks starter allowed four goals in the first period. Darling was sharp, but Chicago fell 4-2 to Dallas.
Crawford is 18-8 with a 1.70 goals against average at home, while vs the Ducks in his career he has gone 11-5 with a solid 1.77 goals against average.
Ducks vs Blackhawks Preview
Bruce has his team ranking 29th overall in scoring which basically leads back to Ryan Getzlaf and his horrific season. Maybe Getzlaf is trying to run Bruce out of Anaheim? Anyways the Ducks barley score 2.3 goals per game, while converting on just 18% of their power play chances, which ranks a disgusting 20th overall in the NHL.
However on defense the Ducks have been solid, ranking 7th overall barely giving up 2.4 goals per game. In the penalty kiting department they are allowing teams to convert on just 11% of their power play chances, which ranks a top of the NHL.
Despite their recent struggles on offense the Hawks still float around the 9th overall ranking in scoring, potting 2.8 goals per game. They have the talent and pride to flip the switch when needed, especially with Duncan Keith manning he blue line. They also still rank 10th overall on the power play converting on 20.4% of their chances.
At the defensive side of the barn they rank an amazing 4th in goals allowed. Between their defense and Corey Crawford’s amazing season, they are only allowing teams to score 2.3 or less goals per game. Their penalty kill could be a tad better as they rank 5th overall. The ranking is not bad but for this Chicago team they should be a top 8 in every category the NHL offers.
