Florida Panthers vs Phoenix Coyotes Prediction – Free NHL Picks – Game Total – NHL Starting Goalies (3/20/14)
For the second and final time this season, the Florida Panthers and Phoenix Coyotes will play a regular season matchup. These teams met on March 11, and Phoenix won 3-1.
Since acquiring goalie Roberto Luongo, the Panthers have split their last six games. However, Florida is coming off a 3-2 road victory over the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday. Luongo has faced an unbelievable 209 shots in his first six starts for Florida. Much of the Panthers’ struggles have come on the offensive end, as they’ve scored two or less goals in four of their last eight games. Brandon Pirri has given the Panthers an offensive boost with three goals and four assists in his last five games. The Florida Panthers are 13-20-1-2 on the road this season.
The Phoenix Coyotes are probably experiencing their best stretch of the season, winning six of their last eight games. A lot of the Coyotes success has come from goalie Mike Smith, who has allowed three or less goals in eight straight starts. Offensively, the Coyotes have scored a power play goal in five of their last seven games. Keith Yandle continues to be an assist machine for Phoenix, racking up five assists in his last five games. The Phoenix Coyotes are 20-11-2-1 on their home ice this season.
The Panthers are 17-35 in their last 52 games following a win and 21-46 in their last 67 road games. The Coyotes are 4-1 in their last 5 home games and 9-3 in their last 12 games playing on 2 days rest. The Panthers are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams, while the road team is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings.
The Panthers have not won back-to-back games since January 20-21, and it’s crazy to think they have what it takes to knock off a hot Phoenix team on the road. But I have seen crazier things happen. So due to the outrageous chalk the Phoenix is recieving this game, I am looking at the game total of 5.5
Roberto Luongo will start tonight for Florida.
Luongo stopped 52 of 54 shots in a win over the Sharks on Tuesday. What a display of goaltending from the former Canuck. The last time he was in Phoenix, he was slated to start, but was traded to Florida prior to puck-drop. There is no chance that happens tonight as he gets set to face the Coyotes. Luongo is 3-2-1 with a 2.48 GAA and .928 SV% with the Panthers
Mike Smith will start for Phoenix tonight.
Smith allowed three goals on 39 shots in a win over the Kings on Monday. He has won four of his last five starts while allowing 11 goals on 153 shots (.928 SV%). Smith has gone 6-3-0 with a 2.22 GAA and .925 SV% in March and makes for a strong start tonight against the Panthers.
I absolutely love both of these netminder as I don’t expect a high scoring affair tonight. Back the under and do not look back.
UNDER 5.5 to win $100
