Free Hockey Pick Philadelphia Flyers vs Ottawa Senators
Free Hockey Pick Philadelphia Flyers vs Ottawa Senators 12/1/15 tonight – For many years goaltending has been a major issue in Philly as where scoring has been the high point for the Flyers. Things have changed this season. Goaltending with Mason and Neuvirth have been stellar however the players in front of them have been a disaster. Giroux is playing okay, where has Voracek been? Brayden Schenn? Wayne Simmonds, although he is trash.
Speaking of Nuevirth he leads the league in save percentage currently supporting a percentage of .939 and sits FIRST OVERALL in the league. This is no fluke, he has played 11 games with 615 minutes under his hockey pants.
Whatever Neuvith changed about his game in Buffalo prior to the trade deadline it has helped him extremely well. Since that trade he fell apart but now in Philly which is the hardest hockey market among goalies. This team always finds a way to destroy good goalies, ending their future career historically.
Steve Mason starts tonight, he has 15 wins while supporting a save percentage of .911 and a goals against average of 2.78 – don’t expect those numbers to decline. He handles pressure very well and I am sure he is worried about his future in Philly with Neuvirth on the rise.
I will say this, once the Flyers offense gets going, watch out Metro, shit will get real. Yes, I am a Flyers fan by heart but the stats don’t lie….and with those huge wins over the Rags and Preds (against their old coach) things SHOULD turn around. Then again this is Philly I am talking about..
Let’s shift over to the Ottawa Senators. Craig Anderson a good American born boy is no joke. He proved it last season, he’s a big goalie and can handle pressure like no other. And I love American born goaltenders, the USA hockey program has advanced so much since the days when I played and I fully expect American players to be 50/50 with Canadian born players in the future. Now, I may be 60 years old by then but it is, what it is.
In 1099 minutes played so far Anderson supports a .911 save percentage along with a 2.78 goals against average. Hammond has better number than Anderson but Anderson is the Start in Ottawa. Hammond has only played 4 games with just 247:45 minutes played
It’s not surprising to see Erik Karlsson leading the Sens in points with 26. I have always supported defenseman leading the rush, it’s something that these old-time coaches have not adjusted well too. Also, that blast from the point doesn’t help opposing teams. I played defense growing up and always led the rush when the opposing teams made a bad line change 😉
Mark Stone picked up where he left off last season sitting second on the team with 21 points. As for Bobby Ryan (who I am not a fan but slowly starting to appreciate him) has been playing very, very good this season. He is tied with Stone and Hoffman with 21 points thus far into the season. He may have found a team that fits his game style finally.
How about faceoffs won? The Sens have 4 players with no lower than a 51% faceoff percentage. Basically all four lines are doing their job down the middle of the ice. The Flyers also have 4 plays that have no low that a 50% face off percentage. This game will be interesting to see down the middle of the ice and something you should watch and appreciate.
- Flyers – Steve Mason
Mason stopped all 24 shots that he faced to post his first shutout of the season on Sunday in New York. The win snapped a four-game slide for Mason, who finished the month of November with a 2-4-2 record, 2.34 GAA and .920 SV%
- Ottawa – Craig Anderson
Anderson allowed four goals on 19 shots in the Senators loss in Arizona on Saturday. It was an ugly way to have his four-game winning streak snapped. Anderson ultimately went 6-2-2 with a 2.56 GAA, .925 SV% and two shutouts in the month of November.
Free Hockey Pick Philadelphia Flyers vs Ottawa Senators 12/1/15 Tonight
This pick is not because I am a Flyers fan by heart, this is a pick because the Flyers have finally adjusted to their new coaching style. They have won 3 of their last 4 games – Two being the Rangers and the Predators. The momentum is on their side and this could be a shootout then again both starting goalies are no joke. Besides how can I not let up those odds on the Flyers!
Philadelphia Flyers +134 ($100)
