It’s Saturday November the 9th 2013 and here at Pucking Hockey we have our free NHL picks of the day. In fact, it’s our top rated NHL pick of the day!
I am not going to get into details about our records, you can easily find them here. So let’s get right into it.
Tampa Bay Lightning vs Detroit Red Wings
Tampa has been on a roll this season. 11-4 and scoring at all cylinders. They are even getting strong goaltending in between the pipes, finally. Stamkos lit the lamp twice against Edmonton earlier this week and now has 13 goals on the season and has now scored in five consecutive contests.
Ben Bishop turned aside a pair of first period breakaways to keep his team from falling behind and was the star of the game with Tampa Bay getting out shot 40-26. But let’s get a grip on reality here. If the Bolts keep allowing teams to out shoot that with that BIG of a margin, they won’t win hockey games. Especially against the Detroit Red Wings.
Detroit not rock city has been brutal at home but don’t expect that to stay. The Wings have a great chance at defeating the Bolts tonight if they can keep peppering Bishop with shots.
They have however, have had plenty of success against Tampa Bay, posting a 24-5-1 record with two ties, including a 13-1-0 home mark with one tie. The Lightning have lost six in a row overall in the series and haven’t beaten the Wings since Jan. 7, 2003. The lone road victory came Jan. 12, 1994.
Be sure to keep an eye out for Valtteri Filppula. He makes his return back to where his career started, only this time with the Tampa Bay Lightning. This game is setup to bring a lot of scoring highlights on the NHL network. Expect a high scoring game with possibly a Red Wings victory in overtime.
OVER 5.5 to win $500 (TOP RATED NHL PICK)
