Tampa Bay Lightning vs Boston Bruins, February 28th 2016

The Lightning and Bruins have each one a game on each other’s home ice, so Tampa Bay is likely coming into Sunday’s game looking to get ahead on that record. Both teams have been capitalizing on the power play lately, and both actually have an extremely similar overall record this season. Even similar still, both teams come into Sunday having won their last games. With all of those similarities on the table, it will be interesting to see who will come out ahead in this battle royal with two even opponents.
The Lightning (35-22-4) have won their last five games straight, with forward Steven Stamkos scoring a goal in each. Because of this winning streak, Tampa Bay is within three points of the Atlantic Division behind Florida. Ben Bishop is actually proving to be a key player in the Lightning’s success, only allowing four total goals in his last three starts and showcasing his skills as a great asset to the defense, who is ranked 7th overall in goals allowed.
The Bruins (34-22-6) return to TD Garden after defeating Carolina on Friday, and scoring 20 goals in their past four games. They’ll likely be looking toward forward Matt Beleskey as he’s been on a hot streak lately, scoring five of those Boston goals. Coach Julien is certainly impressed and encouraged with his performance, noticing that “pucks are starting to go in for him.”
In this seemingly evenly paired match, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top, though Tampa Bay is 14-2 in their last 16 home games against a team with a losing home record. If that streak means anything, it could be Tampa Bay all the way on Sunday.
