The Wild are winning the series against the Avalanche two games to one this season as Colorado comes into Minnesota looking to even the score. The Avalanche will have several ‘new’ players on the line acquired before the trade deadline on Monday, while the Wild will re-introduce defenseman Jonas Brodin, after he missed the past twelve games due to a broken foot. Both teams are trying to push themselves late in the season, and it may pay off for one more than the other tonight.
The Avalanche (32-28-4) are looking toward newly acquired Mikkel Boedker to step up on the line tonight, skating alongside Gabriel Landeskog, who said “It’s exciting to get someone of Boedker’s caliber.” Since the Avalanche are two points ahead of Minnesota for the West’s final wildcard playoff spot, they’re going to be looking to their new recruits for a late-season push toward the playoffs, though, Minnesota may be thinking the same thing with their new players.
The Wild (28-25-10) will try their best to come into a tie with the Avalanche for the wildcard spot in the Western Conference, and are already considering it a ‘playoff game,’ since it will determine the final spot for one of the two teams. Minnesota is also continuing to get healthier, so in addition to their newly acquired teammates, they’ve recently gotten back their star forward Zach Parise, and today will get back Jonas Brodin.
Chances are, no matter what the outcome of the game itself is, both teams will be playing their best to get that second wildcard spot, and it might simply come down to who can use their sticks more efficiently from start to finish.

- Minnesota Wild -> Devan Dubnyk
Devan Dubnyk cruised to a 3-1 win over the Panthers on Sunday. Dubnyk turned away 17 of 18 shots faced during the effort. Improving his record up to 8-10-2 against the East, and 23-21-5 on the season
