Jets vs Coyotes Starting Goalies 12/31/15
Winnipeg Jets -> Connor Hellebyuck
What the puck kind of last name is Hellebuyck? Regardless, he stopped 33 of 34 shots in a 4-1 win over the Red Wings on Tuesday. Hellebuyck continues to be one of the surprises of the season. Many thought Pavelec and Hutchinson would be fighting for number one duties in Winnipeg, but Hellebuyck took advantage of injuries and made the job his own.
Arizona Coyotes -> Louis Domingue
Louis Domingue allowed three goals on 22 shots and was pulled in a 7-5 loss to Chicago on Tuesday. After three straight solid starts in his first call-up this season, he has come down to earth with two straight bad ones. He has allowed seven goals on 55 shots in those two games after stopping 99 of the first 107 he saw since Mike Smith got injured.
Winnipeg Jets Preview
The Jets have been playing good as of late at home, however they are headed on the road where they have played like complete men’s league trash. Maybe their momentum will carry over onto the road, especially since the Coyotes net seems to be wide open every game.
Arizona Coyotes Preview
I’m disappointed Mike Smith is hurt and goaltending has been awful so far this season in Arizona. I enjoy watching this team play, Tippet in my opinion is one of the best coaches in the league. Shane Doan has been as always, a true leader. I expect him to spark his team,, a must win after last game’s disaster.
Winnipeg Jets vs Arizona Coyotes Prediction 12/31/15
This game is going to get out of control. Either very early on or towards the mid way point of the game. The Jets defense can barely play 30 minutes of hockey which eventually leads towards a shootout from the opposing team. The Coyotes goaltending situation right now is horrific and although the Jets have been good as of late with Hellebuyck in net, I can’t see him stopping another 33 shots as he did in his last outing, on the road where the Jets struggle.
I am ending 2015 with a bang, making this my second top pick of the month.
