Vancouver Canucks Preview
It’s safe to say Ryan Miller’s career is over. It’s been for year if you ask me. Miller is now 9-17 on the year with 2.70 goals against average, while on the road he is 4-10 with a 2.85 goals against average. 16-15 with a 2.82 goals against average in his career vs the Flyers.
Vancouver has not been a very good offensive team this year as they come in ranked 26th in scoring, putting up just 2.5 goals per game on 29.2 shots per game, which is 18th. They have converted 18.4% of their power play chances, which is 17th in the league. Their defense has not been good either as they rank 23rd in goals allowed, giving up 2.8 goals per game, while also ranking 24th in penalty kill, allowing teams to convert on 22.1% of their chances.
- Vancouver are 3-12 in their last 15 games playing on one days rest
- Vancouver are 3-8 in their last 11 vs. the Eastern Conference
Philadelphia Flyers Preview
My Flyers seem to finally be responding to their new head coaches style. I didn’t expect them to come out of the gates firing at all cylinders, however once it all starts to click it may be just in time coming down the end of the season. The Flyers are now 7-6 on the year in either OT or a shootout.
Trade Bait Michal Neuvirth is now 8-6 on the year with a 2.06 goals against average and that compares to Mason going just 5-12 with a 2.93 goals against average on the year. Remember Flyers fan, their defense is not the best and since Mason is the #1 in Philly, there’s no reason to grind Mason down to nothing. Save him for when the team starts jelling.
The Flyers have also been a poor offensive squad as they come in ranked 29th in the league in scoring, putting up just 2.1 goals per game, while on the power play they are 25th, converting on just 16.9% of their chances. On defense, the Flyers check in at 20th in goals allowed 2.7 goals allowed per game ad 18th in the penalty killing department (80%)
NHL Starting Goalies 12/17/15
