Montreal Canadiens vs New Jersey Devils Preview
This is the second of a home and home stand as the Devils lost 3-2 on Monday in Montreal. Montreal and New Jersey will meet one more time later in the season.
New Jersey has been dealing with the injury bug for quite sometime and to make matters worse their recent casualty is Adam Henrique. Henrique sustained a lower-body injury after colliding with Canadiens defenseman Alexi Emelin behind the Montreal net. Henrique did try to play in the 2nd period but could not and left the game. His status is questionable for Wednesday.
The aging Martin Brodeur lost his 4th straight contest Monday night and is 7-7-2. Cory Schneider will be in goal tonight.
The effort was there for New Jersey Monday night – they outshot Montreal 30-17 – they just couldn’t figure out Carey Price. Which seems to be the story for every opposing team facing the Canadiens.
Meanwhile in Montreal it’s been the Carey Price show, surprised? I’m not. Monday’s victory marked the 11th straight game Montreal allowed two or fewer goals and the eighth straight victory for Carey Price.
P.K. Subban was a big part of Carey Price’s success Monday night as he stopped not one but two New Jersey attempts on the goal line with his stick.
Montreal Canadiens – Peter Budaj (confirmed)
New Jersey Devils – Cory Schneider (confirmed)
Subban has one goal and six assists in the past seven games.
Devils defenseman Eric Gelinas has nine assists, tying Torey Krug (Boston Bruins) and Ryan Stanton (Vancouver Canucks) for the NHL-lead among rookie defenders.
Montreal will be without defenseman Davis Drewiske (shoulder).
Defenseman Adam Larsson (lower body), forward Stephen Gionta (ankle), defenseman Bryce Salvador (non-displaced stress fracture in foot) and forward Ryane Clowe (head) are on injured reserve for New Jersey. Clowe returned to practice Tuesday. Henrique (lower body) will be a game-time decision.
Montreal Canadiens vs New Jersey Devils Prediction
With how the Canadiens have been playing lately even with Peter Budaj in net tonight, it’s hard to pass them up against an injured plagued Devils team. Not only that they are just 3 points out of first in their division and they will look to get with-in one point of the leading Boston Bruins.
Expect the Canadiens to use their speed against this Devils leading to a victory.
Montreal Canadiens -105 ($500)
