Tuesday March 10th 2015 and here at Pucking Hockey we have a NHL Hockey Pick and Prediction between the New York Rangers and New York Islanders.
Jonathan Tavares Is The Best Player In The League
It’s as simple as that, Tavares is the best all around player in the NHL. And last night proves my point when he beat 4 Leafs’ players and scored the game winning overtime goal. The Islanders were down 3-1 before Tavares put the Islanders on his shoulders and led them to victory.
Tavares has seven points in three games and extend his league lead to 72.
Jaroslav Halak will start in-goal after Michal Neuvirth earned his first Islanders win against the Maple Leafs last night. Halak has been in net for each meeting this season, going 3-1-0 with a 2.51 GAA and .935 save percentage while facing at least 41 shots in three of the contests. He’s won seven of nine against the Rangers with a 1.89 GAA.
The Islanders will be without Nick Leddy tonight.
- NY Islanders are 1-5 SU in their last 6 games when playing at home against NY Rangers
Rangers Shaping Up For Another Deep Playoff Run
Last season I was all over the Rangers, from the start of the season, to the final Stanley Cup game. This season, I feel no different, and a lot of that has to do with Cameron Talbot carrying the load, since Henrik Lundqvist went down.
Cam Talbot has turned in three straight gems against respected opponents, but the next test is shaping up as the most difficult of the bunch.
The Rangers have allowed three goals in the last three games with Talbot posting a .965 save percentage during the 2-0-1 span, including a 29-save effort in Sunday’s 1-0 overtime win in Chicago.
Talbot has started 15 of 16 games while Henrik Lundqvist recovers from a vascular injury in his neck, and the Rangers have gone 11-2-3 in the absence of their No. 1 goalie. Which is huge and proving the Rangers have the depth for a deep playoff run.
- The total has gone UNDER in 4 of the NY Rangers last 6 games when playing NY Islanders
NHL Hockey Pick and Prediction
Originally we had the Rangers winning tonight in a close game, but we have decided to take this pick off the board and focus on a prediction in the Tampa Bay Lightning and Montreal Canadiens match-up.
