New York Rangers vs Pittsburgh Penguins Game 7 Prediction (5/13/14)
It’s game 7 as the Pittsburgh Penguins will host the New York Rangers in the last seventh final game in the series.
The Penguins, after losing the first game on the home ice 3-2 in overtime, won three straight games 3-0, 2-0, and 4-2, and led 3-1 in the series. The Rangers, however, mobilized themselves and won next two games 5-1 and 3-1. The series stands 3-3 and the winner of the Tuesday’s match will play Eastern Conference Finals. Last time when the Rangers were able to force game no. 7 after trailing 3-1 in the series was in 1939, when they were defeated by Boston Bruins in triple overtime. That won’t happen tonight however.
What is more impressing, the Rangers kept the offensive Penguins’ forwards off the score sheet in the last two games and outscored them 8-2. Or maybe the Penguins top guns are choking as they seem to do every year under head coach Dan Blysma. The Rangers seemed to have found a good strategy how to eliminate Sidney, Malkin, Neal, Jokinen and Kunitz. Despite the Penguins outshooting the Rangers 37-29, they could not put the puck behind Henrik Lundqvist, who was excellent and kept the team alive.
What let the Penguins down is their power-play. They had 6 opportunities in the last game and were scoreless and are 1 for 19 in the whole series. For such skilled players that must be a huge disappointment and frustration. But again, Dan Blysma.

When the Penguins lose this game tonight it’s going to be a huge disappointment for the whole franchise. And when this does happen expect major changes in the offseason starting with the coaching staff. The Rangers on the other hand, proved themselves that they are competitive and resilient enough to overcome anything and move onto the Eastern Conference Finals. That will happen tonight but don’t expect it to be an easy victory, they may have to climb out of an 1-0 early hole.
