NHL Injuries for today Monday, October 21, 2013 are updated throughout the day. Be sure to check back periodically for injury updates.
Danny Briere – Montreal Canadiens
The concussion could keep Briere out for an extended period of time. Much like his days in Philly.
Lubomir Visnovsky – New York Islanders
Visnovsky will likely miss some time after suffering the concussion from a hit from Radek Dvorak in the first period. Visnovsky only has 3 points this season.
Taylor Hall – Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers and Hall owners are hoping that an MRI in Edmonton reveals no structural damage to his injured knee. Leaving the team on the road trip isn’t exactly a good sign, but we’ll have to wait and see what the MRI reveals.
Vincent Lecavalier – Philadelphia Flyers
Lecavalier has missed the last three games. He had one goal and two assists in his first five games as a Flyer.
Sam Gagner – Edmonton Oilers
Gagner has not played in a game this season after breaking his jaw in the preseason.
Niklas Kronwall – Detroit Red Wings
Kronwall will miss his second game tonight vs. San Jose, but he is expected to return to the Red Wings blueline on Wednesday.
Brandon Prust – Montreal Canadiens
This is a big loss for the Habs who lose a big-body, physical presence on what is a small team. He had two goals and one assist through the first eight games. Montreal recalled Michael Blunden and Patrick Holland to fill in.
Kari Lehtonen – Dallas Stars
Lehtonen has missed five games with a lower body injury. He is still listed as day to day with no firm return, but the target is probably Thursday. “He’s probably 94 or 95 percent, so do you want to take that chance?” goalie coach Mike Valley said. “If you wait, then you can get him back at 100 percent.”
Jonathan Ericsson – Detroit Red Wings
Ericsson injured his shoulder late in Saturday’s game and won’t play tonight vs. San Jose. This is a tough break for the Red Wings who are already without Niklas Kronwall, now they will be missing their entire top-pair vs. one of the NHL’s top teams.
