The Coyotes travel to San Jose this afternoon to play the Sharks. Came out of the gates on fire starting out 7-0-0 but they have hit a bit of a rough patch.
The Sharks have yet to win a game in the month of February. There last game was Tuesday, losing to the Blackhawks 5 to 3.
Phoenix is also coming off a disappointing loss to the Blackhawks; losing 6-2 Thursday night. The Coyotes were 3-0-2 in their five games leading up to there lopsided tilt against Chicago.
This will likely be a low scoring game. Phoenix is one of the strongest defensive teams in the league and Mike Smith was one of the best goalies last season. With the exception of the game against the Blackhawks, the Sharks haven’t allowed more than 3 goals in a game this season.
The Sharks are well rested while the Coyotes’ Mike Smith will probably be happy getting back on the ice a few days after getting shelled by Chicago.
Phoenix Coyotes – Mike Smith
San Jose Sharks – Antti Niemi (probable)
I predict at 3-2 victory for the Sharks and I expect Patrick Marleau will get back on the score sheet following a five game goalless streak and a four game pointless streak.
UNDER 5.5 total goals
