NHL Stanley Cup Picks
It’s game five between the Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks and here at Pucking Hockey we have today’s NHL Stanley Cup Picks. First, let’s take a look at how each team matched up so far in the finals.
Boston has sucked the fast paced Blackhawks into their “trap” and clogged them from using their speed against Boston’s slow defense.
That was until game four when we saw the Bruins lay off of their “trap” and Chicago used their speed to their advantage. But what none of us expected to happen, happened.
Boston responded with their own offensive speed and kept right with Chicago all the way up until overtime where Chicago eventually scored the 6th and final goal of the game.
I had the OVER 5 in game four and for good reason, I expected both teams to play loose on the back-end to see which team had the better offense. Turns out, both are very good.
So what does all of this mean for game 5 in Chicago with a 2-2 series knot?
It means which ever team shows up to play defense is the team that wins. But not only that, neither Rask or Crawford have ever let in over 4 goals a game all season and get thrown right back out onto the ice the next game.
In Boston if Rask had an off game, we would see back-up goaltender Anton Khudobin fill in the next game. As for Chicago, they had just a handful of losses all season, and we saw Ray Emery and Crawford fight for the starting position all season.
Will Rask and Crawford bounce back after both allowing 5 goals last game?
Whichever goalie does this, is the team that will win. What I am saying is, we will see a game style like we did in game 2 and 3. Solid defense with outstanding goaltending.
Bruins vs Blackhawks Game 4 Prediction
The odds are in Chicago’s way solely because they scored 6 goals last game and are home. But as I mentioned, both teams allowed 5 goals and home ice advantage has been a no factor in this series. Considering each team has split the wins at home with the opponent.
With all that being said, Boston has been out playing Chicago in every aspect of the game expect for goaltending. Both teams have been evenly matched in net but as the old saying goes “defense wins championships”
The odds are in our favor so take the +135 road dogs as they have the better defense.
Boston Bruins to win +135 (risking $500 to win $675)
