Tuesday March 17th 2015 and here at Pucking Hockey we have a free NHL hockey prediction between the Pittsburgh Penguins and New Jersey Devils.
Am I surprised that the Pittsburgh Penguins are starting to fall apart at this point in the season? Yes, a little, but injuries to Evgeni Malkin and Patrick Hornqvist have been the issues in Pittsburgh. One scoring thereat injured, somebody can step up, but two? Nearly impossible for a Penguins team that is not all that deep.
Not only is it hard for opposing teams to walk into New Jersey expecting a win, they will also be starting Thomas Greiss in net. New Jersey in my opinion, are one of the hardest places to play. I never played there, I am not a professional, but when coaches like Peter Laviolette admit that, you tend to see the trend.
Cory Schneider is arguably a top 5 goaltender in the NHL and he’s posting up amazing stats considering the Devils will miss the postseason, for the 3rd consecutive time.
Cory Schneider stopped 30 of 31 shots in the Devils 4-1 win over the Coyotes on Saturday. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for Schneider, who now sits 25-25-7 with a 2.20 GAA and .927 SV% this season. Tonight will be his fifth start against the Penguin—he has gone 1-2-1 with a 2.44 GAA and .923 SV% in the first four.
A .923 save percentage pretty much sums up why the Devils have even had fighting chances all season long. Schenider will play a role in the Devils victory tonight.

Not only will the Pittsburgh Penguins lose, I am expecting the Devils to come out strong in the first period as they do against every Metropolitan rival and get early goals. From there the Penguins will be trapped and without Malkin and Hornqvist, forget about it.
New Jersey Devils +135 (risking $100 to win $135)
