I have said it in the past and I will never stop saying it. PK Subban is one of the best defenseman in the NHL. He has it all. As for Shea Weber he is also one of the best defenseman in the league. In my opinion this was an all around best trade for both the Nashville Predators and Montreal Canadiens.
I have been reading stats this stats that. Doesn’t mean a pucking thing. Montreal needs a tough hard-hitting beast on the back-end. And the Predators need a defenseman who can lead the rush and trail on the rush. We saw it in the playoffs recently. Laviolette had his defenseman joining and leading the rush, Subban will increase their goals per game. Weber will keep opposing teams from scoring as much and “leaving a scare” to opposing players.
P.K. Subban said he was not amazed by the exchange on the grounds that there had been such a large number of bits of gossip since he marked a $72 million, eight-year contract in the mid year of 2014. His no-development provision was set to kick in Friday, which means this was the last window for the Canadiens to listen to offers on him.
“With a ton of the gab that sort of happened over the short time, I’m a firm adherent that, as a rule, where there’s smoke there’s flame,” Subban said on a telephone call. “Clearly, it’s a smidgen dreamlike, yet it happened.”
Nashville general director David Poile said the exchange was initially examined at the draft a weekend ago in Buffalo. He said it was justified, despite all the trouble to surrender Weber for Subban.
“P.K. Subban is a world-class hostile defenseman with enormous expertise and infectious vitality that improves the Nashville Predators a group now and into the future,” Poile said in an announcement. “Genius defensemen of his bore are an uncommon item, and we are excited to add him to the association.”
Subban, 27, won the Norris Trophy, given to the NHL’s top defenseman, in 2013. He has scored more than 50 focuses in each of the previous three seasons, including a profession best 60 focuses in the 2014-15 season. He had six objectives and 45 helps last season before misery a harm.
Subban has 63 objectives and 215 helps with 434 profession diversions, all with the Canadiens.
Weber, who turns 31 on Aug. 14, has scored more than 50 focuses in two of the previous three seasons. A three-time Norris Trophy finalist, he was a group commander and had 20 objectives and 31 helps last season. His 14 strategic maneuver objectives last season drove all NHL defensemen.
Weber had been with Nashville since the begin of his NHL profession in 2005. He marked a $110 million, 14-year offer sheet with the Philadelphia Flyers as a limited free operator in 2012, however Nashville coordinated it to keep him.
“We finished today an imperative exchange which I am persuaded will improve the Canadiens a group,” general administrator Marc Bergevin said in an announcement. “It was likewise a standout amongst the most troublesome choices I needed to make as general director of the Montreal Canadiens. In Shea Weber, we get a first class NHL defenseman with colossal authority, and a player who will enhance our cautious gathering and additionally our strategic maneuver for a long time to come. He is a finished rearguard with great size and a capable shot.
Subban has five more years left on his agreement, paying him a normal of $9 million for each season.
Weber has 10 more years at a $7.857 million top hit, in spite of the fact that it was a 14-year bargain marked in 2012 that was greatly front-stacked, seeing his compensation go from $12 million next season to $6 million in 2018-19, $3 million 2022-23 and after that $1 million each of the last three years through 2025-26.
Both Weber and Subban were individuals from Team Canada’s Olympic gold award group in 2014.
Subban said he generally felt needed in the Montreal people group after he was drafted in the second round in 2007. He held back before saying he felt undesirable by the Canadiens.
