Here we go, not even a week into the regular season (6 days) and Jeremy Roenick is on NHL Overtime running his mouth with nonsense.
Before I get into what he said last night, let me explain why I can’t stand this guy.
Ok, that’s fair, makes a little sense. He even said the same thing before the team Canada, team Russia matchup. Check out the video.
But then, after the Canadians starting handing it to the Russians, Roenick was all over Sidney Crosby when commentating the game and the intermission reports. Claiming how Sid the Kid is his number one go to guy, and he does it all.
SO WHICH IS IT ROENICK!?
Now onto what he said last night…
Roenick claimed that all of Canada was rooting for the Vancouver Canucks to win the 2011 Stanley Cup. Including, Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary and Montreal fans.
Yes he really said this….then Mike Milbury ripped him a new one. Almost made him cry, again!
Roenick you were a great hockey player, it’s a shame you never won the Stanley Cup. But for the sake of hockey, stop saying these stupid accusation’s that make no sense. And if you’re going to say one thing, please stick with it, no matter the outcome! And maybe Mike Milbury won’t rip you apart again and again.
Here are a few funny J.R. quotes during his amazing, but Cup-less, NHL career.
Last season J.R. said the Sedin twins were ruining hockey because they were using ” mental telepathy.” J.R. said this so adamantly that he believed himself, we still don’t know if he was serious or not.
“They just love to complain about me because I’m an American who gets more press than their Canadian players.”
“I liked Patrick’s quote, that he would have stopped me. I wanted to know where he was in Game 3. He was probably getting his jock out of the rafters of the United Center.”
– On Patrick Roy after Game 4 of the conference semifinal between Chicago and Colorado in 1996. Roy’s retort: “I can’t really hear what Jeremy says, because I’ve got my two Stanley Cup rings plugging my ears.”
“Because wives and girlfriends aren’t on the road.”
– On why San Jose’s away record was so much better than its home record through the first few months of the 2007-08 season.
“It’s not my fault Snow didn’t have any other options coming out of high school. If going to college gets you a career backup goaltender job and my route gets you a thousand points and a thousand games, and compare the two contracts, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out whose decision was better.”
– On Islanders goalie Garth Snow’s response to Roenick complaining about the officiating during a Flyers-Islanders game during which Snow said Roenick wasn’t “that bright.”
