San Jose Sharks vs St. Louis Blues Prediction (1/8/15)
It wasn’t quite an effort from the San Jose Sharks last week when they played the St. Louis blues. A 7-2 loss was not something they had in mind but expect the San Jose Sharks to seek revenge tonight in St. Louis.
Only problem is the Blues offense is surging with 13 goals in the last 2 games. Sharks haven’t been too shabby scoring 7 goals in the past 2 games. But it’s nowhere near 13.
St. Louis (24-13-3) averaged 2.6 goals through its first 26 games, but is scoring 3.9 per game during an 8-5-1 stretch. Its league-best power play has 17 goals on 48 chances in that span, including 6 for 14 over the last three games. The Blues scored three times on five opportunities with the man advantage in Tuesday’s 6-0 win at Arizona.
San Jose (22-14-5) has given up six power-play goals on 16 chances over its last six games and has allowed three-plus goals in five of seven, but is seeking a fourth straight road win after Tuesday’s 4-3 overtime victory at Minnesota.
Brian Elliott is starting in net tonight and stopped all 23 shots that he faced in the Blues blowout 6-0 win over the Coyotes on Tuesday. Since returning from his knee injury, he is 2-1-0 with a 1.69 GAA and .944 SV%. The 29-year-old will face the Sharks for the second time in under a week—he made 18 saves in a 7-2 win on Saturday vs Sharks.
