Philadelphia Flyers vs Edmonton Oilers Prediction (12/28/13)
This will be the first time the Flyers will face their former goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov after buying him out over the off-season. Bryzgalov was signed to a humangous big contract after Philly ran captain Mike Richards and party partner Jeff Carter out-of-town. He was slated to become the goaltender Philly has been seeking for the past 10+ years.
Turns out he was not what Philly expected and became a constant distraction on and off the ice. Between his outrageous interviews and sleeping in team meetings, this clown had to go.
This was before of course they made a trade for Steve Mason who will be in between the pipes for Philly tonight.
Philly now pays about $1.4M for the next 14 years to Bryzgalov. Ridiculous I know, but it’s better than him in between the pipes.
I expect the Flyers to come out peppering Bryzgalov running him out of the crease. And I expect it to happen early. From what I understand nobody in the Flyers locker room liked him so they will show no mercy tonight.
Edmonton is the worst team in the Western Conference and they are playing in a back to back situation. They have absolutely no defense and they will have to find a way to slow down this Flyers offense that has been red-hot the past few weeks. Edmonton has plenty of offense but they will have a hard time getting pucks past Mason who has been nothing short of stellar for Philly.
Take the Flyers tonight and do not look back, not even for a second. The odds are way too low as they should easily be in the -150 range.
Philadelphia Flyers -128 to win $1,000 (TOP NHL PLAY OF THE WEEK)
