Seattle Seahawks Preview 2017
All good things must come to an end, Park 2. Without RB Marshawn Lynch last year, Seattle managed a paltry 3.9 yards per rush and less than 100 rushing yards a game. With QB Russell Wilson hobbled by ankle and knee problems, Seattle scored 12 or fewer points in five out of sixteen regular season games.
With the major defensive players Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, and Richard Sherman struggling through injuries. Seattle gave up 35 or more points in three of their last six games, last season.
When Seattle won the Super Bowl in 2014, they allowed 5.4 yards per pass attempt and averaged 1.7 defensive interceptions a game. Those numbers have regressed steadily over the last three seasons. Allowing 5.8, 6.1 and 6.8 yards per pass attempt. While averaging 0.9, 0.8 and 0.6 interceptions per game.
Over the last three years, they are 16-2 SU in the regular season vs. backup quarterbacks. And 19-10-1 SU vs. starting quarterbacks.
Prior to last season, Wilson never lost a game by 10 or more points. It happened twice last season.
Green Bay Packers Preview 2017
Green Bay won the Super Bowl in 2010 despite a rash of injuries. Last season they were one game away from a return to the Super Bowl, again despite a rash of injuries. They’re my pick to represent the NFC in this year’s Super Bowl.
Lost in the hype of last years playoff run was just how good the Green Bay defense was playing before injuries took their toll. Cornerback Davon House returns after spending the last two years in Jacksonville. He’ll likely run with second-round pick Kevin King as the team’s starting cornerbacks.
Green Bay closes out the season with three out of four games on the road, so expect them to get off to a fresh start. They open vs. Seattle at home, where they are 21-5 SU the last three years. Green Bay has beaten Seattle at home in each of the last two years by scores of 38-10 and 27-17. Week two is a massive revenge game on the road at Atlanta, followed by a home game vs. Cincinnati and Chicago. The Packers could easily be 3-1 or 4-0 to start the season.
