Tampa Bay Lightning vs Montreal Canadiens Prediction (1/6/15)
It doesn’t feel that long ago when the Montreal Canadiens swept the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Since then the Tampa Bay Lightning won 7-1 against Montreal in the first season series match-up in Tampa. This time these two teams meet in Montreal for the second season series match-up and both are tied for the most points in the Eastern Conference. (54)
Montreal leads the Atlantic Division with 2 games in hand.
Before the season started I was very high on Montreal and still am, as for the Tampa Bay Lightning, not so much. Tampa came out of the gates very strong and still strong scoring left and right, up and down but something doesn’t sit well in my gut about this team. I can’t quite put my finger on the issue yet, but I will eventually.
Remember I said that come time for the playoffs….
The Lightning have a 25-12-4 record and I cannot take that away from them, on top of that they lead the league in shots against allowing just 27 per game and are the highest scoring team in the NHL averaging 3.3 goals per game. Maybe I am being a bit judgemental right now, but come playoff time–what does it matter? It’s not the playoffs yet, it’s still the regular season. Stupid me.
Forward Tyler Johnson’s 43 points lead the Tampa Bay Lightning and his 36 even-strength points are tops in the NHL. Pretty impressive for a rookie but will he keep this going coming down the stretch of the regular season and into the playoffs? Maybe down the stretch and hopefully into the playoffs but teams will start to shut him down. Just look at Nathan MacKinnon.
Know what I love about this Lightning team? They have good American players who are playing great and leading this team. Johnson and Bishop.
Much like the Lightning the Canadiens are a top the Eastern Conference as I expected and Carey Price is the sole reason for this. Then again, you’re only as good as your goaltender in the NHL as the saying goes. Price went 3-0-0 with a 1.33 goals-against average and .952 save percentage and was named the NHL’s 3rd star of the week, last week.
Montreal completed a 4-0-0 road trip Saturday and will be back home tonight to face the Lightning. It’s always great to be back home in front of your home crowd but you can bet the Tampa Bay Lightning will be ready for this game.
Ben Bishop vs Carey Price will be your NHL Starting Goalies but unfortunately this is not a free NHL pick. This is in fact our TOP NHL PICK OF THE DAY. So if you’re interested in purchasing and starting off a month pass with a BIG WIN tonight be sure to jump on board NOW!
