Before I get into this article, please note, I am NOT racist. With that being said, the NHL is very ass backwards right now.
First, some fan throws a banana peel at Wayne Simmonds and that made national news.
Second, you have Wayne Simmonds on national television calling Sean Avery a “faggot”.
NOW, you have Florida’s Krystofer Barch asking P.K. Subban if he “fell on a banana peel” while Subban was laying on his back, on the ice.
So out of all this, apparently the “cops” found the guy who threw the banana peel, and there was going to be charges made against him. Yeh, whatever happened to that?
NOTHING, IT WAS A COVER UP!
Simmonds calling Avery a “faggot” never escalated to anything.
BUT WAIT….KRYSTOFER BARCH GETS SUSPENDED!?
Whatever happened to the old saying, “What happens on the ice, STAYS on the ice”? Since when did referee’s rat out players for what they said?
Oh…wait..I get it now…The NHL is trying to reach out to the African American community.
But why? Ratings? Bigger fan base? For news controversy to show the NHL is for all races?
This suspension is the biggest load of crap I have ever seen the NHL/Shanahan/Campbell do, and god knows there were a lot of suspensions this season that were NOT suspend-able.
Just like I said before, the NHL favors one mistake and not the other.
Check out what Colin Campbell had to say.
“Mr. Barch has admitted making the remark, but denies that the comment was racially motivated,” said Colin Campbell, Senior Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations. “While we accept Mr. Barch’s assertion, as a player in the National Hockey League, he must be held accountable for making a comment that, in the context in which it was made, and in light of the entirety of the circumstances, was offensive and unacceptable.”
Watch out NHL players, you are liable to be suspended for ANYTHING in today’s NHL.
