Why do the Flyers Suck? Giroux? Team Shooting Percentage?
My heart has taken a lot of shots over the years being a Philadelphia Flyers fan. It’s sad but true. And this season I’m once again wondering, “WTF is going on” !?
The obvious, their defense is beer league at best. Which will and does drain goaltenders, Steve Mason is not the problem. However, I noticed this season that their shooting percentage seems low and seems a lot lower than previous seasons.
After needing proof that their shooting percentage as a team was the problem, I started researching the Internet. I could have compiled all the data and made my own line graph. But, who has time for that shit?!
Finally, I came across a website called SportingCharts.com and they confirmed what I already knew. The Flyers shooting percentage has been a downhill trend for several seasons now.
It does not take a math geek to look at this chart and see there’s a serious problem. Now, let’s compare up against the New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins. Who currently hold a playoff spot.
There’s the number one reason why the Flyers are on the outside looking in. A major problem they are neglecting to fix. Oh, and Claude Giroux’s production…
