Minnesota Wild vs Chicago Blackhawks Hockey Prediction and Pick Tonight NHL Starting Goalies 3-20-16 PuckingHockey.com
The Wild are coming into the Windy City off a 3-2 home win over Carolina, which had to be a confidence boost, as they’ve lost four of their last six games. In terms of confidence, Chicago hopefully found a bit of their own, breaking a four game losing streak by shutting out Winnipeg 4-0 on Friday. In this series, Chicago holds the upper hand, winning 15 of the last 21 home games.
The Wild (33-28-9) are currently battling it out for the 8th spot in the West, currently in 9th and trailing Colorado by just one point. With Arizona nine points behind, at this point the Wild are really just battling Colorado when it comes to points in order to grab that coveted position into the playoffs. In order for the Wild to beat the Blackhawks, though, they’ll have to focus on their defense, which has been more consistent all year than their offensive game. They’re coming into Chicago ranked 11th in goals allowed, but they’ll have Stephen Michalek in the goal tonight to make his first NHL start. Whether he can keep the Chicago offense at bay is yet to be seen.
The Blackhawks (42-24-5) called on Scott Darling to get their game back on track, and he delivered, shutting out Winnipeg on Friday night. Chicago is within three points for the top spot in the Central, which Dallas currently holds. Darling will get the call again tonight, and if they can get Kane and Ladd scoring the way they did against the Jets, they’ll be able to combat the Wild’s defense pretty effectively.
