Minnesota Wild vs New York Islanders, February 2nd 2016
NHL Starting Goalies Tonight
- Minnesota Wild -> Devan Dubnyk
A shorthanded goal late in regulation Monday night spoiled a shutout bid for Wild goalie Devan Dubnyk and led to a 2-1 shootout loss to the Arizona Coyotes in Minnesota. Dubnyk is now 18-15-5, with a save percentage of .922 and a goals-against average of 2.23.
- New York Islanders -> Jean-Francois Berube
Berube spent the All-Star break on a conditioning stint with Bridgeport (AHL) and he excelled, going 4-1-0 with a 1.25 goals against average and .960 SV%. He is fresh after playing all week, so the Islanders will roll with the hot hand in their first game back. Berube allowed four goals on 34 shots in a loss to Chicago in his NHL debut back in October.
Minnesota Wild Preview
You can’t blame injuries this season for the Minnesota Wild. Zach Parise currently the best goal scorer for the Wild, his two linemates are in the midst of their largest scoring droughts of their career’s.
Outside of being checked off pucks, both Granlund and Pominville have been a problem for the Wild’s non existent offense. Granlund registered 8 goals and 40 points his first two full seasons with Minnesota. Pominville led the Wild with 30 goals two years ago.
Pathetically Granlund has one, one pucking goal, an EMPTY NETTER in the past 30 games, and only registering 3 assists in the past 16 games. As for Pominville he’s on pace for a career worst 8 goals.
Other players who are holding the Wild back.
Nino Niederreiter: Two goals in the past 33 games.
Jason Zucker: Six goals and no assists in the past 34 games.
Mikko Koivu: Two goals (one empty-net) and five assists in the past 19 games.
Thomas Vanek: Three goals (one empty-net) and three assists in the past 20 games and recently held without a shot in four consecutive games.
Jared Spurgeon: Two goals and one assist in the past 21 games.
Matt Dumba: No goals and two assists in the past 19 games.
Jonas Brodin: No goals and one assist in the past 24 games.
