Winnipeg Jets vs Carolina Hurricanes Prediction (2/4/14)
On paper these two teams are pretty even but when it comes to goaltending the Hurricanes have been getting plenty of it lately. Anton Khudobin has filled in nicely since Cam Ward went down with an injury being named the first star of the month of January going 10-4-0 with a 2.19 GAA and .927 SV%
Impressive numbers but his team has not played since Friday and these Hurricanes always show me rust when having time off. And now with Cam Ward back in the mix I don’t expect Khudobin to keep up his stellar play in net.
Winnipeg will start Ondrej Pavelec in net tonight. Pavelec allowed three goals on 26 shots in a win over the Canucks on Friday. He was given Sunday off, but will be back in-goal tonight in Carolina. Pavelec went 6-5-0 with a 2.90 GAA and .894 SV% in January, but has won six of his last eight.
Not very impressive numbers but impressive enough as the whole team has responded well to the head coaching change. Since that change, Vegas has not been showing much love for the Jets and they should be tonight.
Carolina has not played sine Friday and I expect them to come out slow tonight. The Jets played Sunday and won another game as an underdog and guess what? They are underdogs again tonight.
Even though both teams are pretty even the Jets hold more value being a +125 road dog and not having 4 days off like Carolina has.
Winnipeg Jets +125 to win $125
